When a strange, possibly alien, signal is detected on the moon, America and China compete in a space mission to be the first nation to land on the moon and investigate the source of the signals. The book Doppelwelt (german) by Dominik A. Meier is a fictional story about the Tchernobyl accident in the year 1987. Anastasija lives in the Zone, the radioactive area around the reactor. One day strange things happen and she and a friend are teleported to a parallel world. There exist three worlds and Anastasija is the one to save them. The story was good. Available at Amazon.

The book Blutige Nachrichten (german) by Stephen King is a collection of four short novels: Mr. Harrigangs Telefon, Chucks Leben, Blutige Nachrichten and Ratte. The stories were quite entertaining and I liked them a lot. Available at Amazon.

The book Freiheitsgeld by Andreas Eschbach is set in a not too distant future. Robots do all the work for people, everyone gets a basic income without work. The policeman Ahmad Müller has to investigate the murder of a high-ranking politician and a reporter. The story is really good and I liked it. Available at Amazon.

The book The Get Things Done Book: 41 Tools to Start, Stick With and Finish Things by Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschäppeler is a book full of tips and how to decide which tasks and goals are important and how to successfully complete them. The book is not too long, less than a hundred pages, and gives good advice. I liked it. Available at Amazon.

The book Gedankenkrieg: High Tech Thriller (Nick Hall 3) (german) by Douglas E. Richards is the third book in the Nick Hall series. The mindreadinh formula is stolen. Two new mind readers appear. Once again the story is really good and I enjoyed reading it. Available at Amazon.

The book The Arc (The Loop 3) (german) by Ben Oliver is the third book of the science fiction trilogy. Luca is trapped in the Arc. There are only a few days left and the AI Happy has reached its goal and recreated the healing technology. Luka and his friends have to fight the ultimate battle in the outside world and in Happy's mind. I liked the book and enjoyed reading it. Available at Amazon.

The book °C – Celsius (german) by Marc Elsberg is a thriller about the manipulation of the earth's climate. When large black drones appear, the Chinese government explains that they are actively influencing the climate. But there are other players who want to change the climate in their favour. It's a great book and very interesting. Available at Amazon.

The book NSA - Nationales Sicherheits-Amt by Andreas Eschbach is brilliant. What would happen if, in an alternate timelime, Hitler had access to advanced computers and the Internet? Coding is done by women. Helene is a young programmer who starts working for the NSA. She is quite ingenious at programming and delivers new tools for better surveillance of the population. Although she is against the cruel regime, her work helps to win the war. The book is fascinating and I liked it a lot. Great! Available at Amazon.

The book Download by Jona Sheffield is a science fiction book. Dr. Josie Parman is researching how to digitise a human brain. She wants to help her sick sister, who can't move after an accident some years ago. A wealthy businessman offers her the chance to work for him and combine their efforts. I liked the book. The book Professor Everywhere by Nicholas Binge is a science fiction mystery novel. It is about the young student Chloe Chan. She gets a job as an assistant to the enigmatic professor Crannus. She soon learns that he is able to visit other worlds. She believes in his good intentions, but has to learn that the government is not convinced of the professor's benevolence. I liked the book and found it fascinating to read. Available at Amazon.

The book Alles ist schwer, bevor es leicht ist - Wie lernen gelingt (german) by Caroline von St. Ange gives lots of tips on how to motivate children to learn.

Pupils should develop a growth mindset. If they fail in an exam, they should know, that they can improve. They can succeed if they learn with the right support. Ability and intelligence can be developed and changed. You should never study with a video or television playing next to you. It's too distracting. Before a child learns, it should be asked whether it has drunk and eaten. Breaks are important. The task can be broken down into small steps. Older children learn for a maximum of one hour without interruption. A break must be taken afterwards. Exercise and fresh air are good during the break. Strengthen the child's strengths. If the child is good at a subject, then this subject should be practised even more. This boosts self-confidence and helps to compensate for poor grades in other subjects. Reading is important. It can also be comics.

The book also makes comments on how schools should be.

School grades are unfair. Grades of different students are not comparable. Good grades make you arrogant. Poor grades are demotivating. Children don't want grades. Children only learn for grades, not for themselves. Notes are mere snapshots.

(german) by Achim Barth explains why the big companies are collecting your data, what they know about you and how you can protect yourself. It was a very interesting insight into what is possible today. I highly recommend the book. Available at Amazon.

The audiobook Als das Böse kam (german) by Ivar Leon Menger is a thriller about a small family with two children who lives on a island. The children are not allowed to have contact with other people. Sixteen-year-old Juno discovers that she and her younger brother Boy were abducted years ago. I liked the audiobook. Available at Amazon.

The book Die Singularitätsfalle (german) by Dennis E. Taylor is a science fiction story. Ivan Pritchard hires on a mining spaceship. The crew hopes to find valuable resources to make them rich. Ivan wants a better life for his family back on Earth. When the ship finds an asteroid, Ivan is infected by something alien. He mutates into a chrome man and is contacted by some kind of AI. He is being hunted by professional assassins. He discovers that he can surf in the internet with his brain and read minds. Nick must find out what has happened to him and how he can survive. The book Mitosis (german) by Brandon Sanderson is a short story set after his book Steelheart. David and the other Reckoners help the citizens of Newcago to improve their lives. One day a new epic travels to the city of Newcago to become his new master and kill the man who killed his old master Steelheart. I enjoyed reading this book. Available at Amazon.

The book Airlock by Armin Weber is a science fiction thriller. In the year 2137, communications officer Riley Briggs and his wife, who is an excellent cook, work on the corvette Star Owl. The crew has to secure the routes between Earh, Mars and the asteroid belt. One day they a sister ship that has been missing for five years. The Riley's son was on that ship. Some soldiers have to investigate the ship. The Riley's join the mission because they want to know if their son is still alive. The crew of the other ship is dead. But an alien returns to the Star Owl. Day to day it learns better how to control the ship's computer and the crew. Only Riley seems to remain untouched. In my opinion, the story has some logical flaws, but if you overlook them, you will get an exciting book. Available at Amazon.

The book Top Science Fiction by Josh Pachter is a collection of 17 short science fiction stories. Quite famous authors have chosen their best short story for this book. They wrote a short introduction explaining why they chose the story. Most of the stories were quite good but some are mediocre. I enjoyed reading the book. Available at Amazon.

The book Was ich weiss über Nibiru (german) by Ad Roest is about the supposed planet Nibiru, which travels through our solar system every 25 thousand years and passes close to the Earth. Because of its large mass, it destroys the Earth's ecosystem. Civilisation has to make a new start. The author explains his theory with ancient stories and the stone layers of our planet. According to the author, the next passage of Nibiru will be in 5000 years. The book is fascinating. Available at Amazon.

The book Der Hyperion Cluster: Eine Reise zum Ende des Universums (german) by Dominik A. Meiter is a science fiction story. The research space vessel Nyx travels through a wormhole to the great void. Joshua Gray and his team encounter serious problems and find a strange planet. The book was good. Available at Amazon.

The book Die Mars-Anomalie (german) by Joshua Tree is a science fiction story. During a massive solar eruption, a strange glow is detected on Mars, and on earth in the city of Jakarta, even though the electricity has been turned off, the lights glow brighter than ever. Linguist Rachel Ferreira is sent to Mars with a crew of astronauts to investigate the strange phenomenon. The book was good. Available at Amazon.

The book Blue Skies by T.C. Boyle is about a near future where climate change is affecting everyone's lives. Cooper is a scientist who convinces his mother to cook with insects. His sister buys a python. When she gets pregnant and gives birth to twins, a real tragedy ensues. The book was great. Available at Amazon.

The book Equilon by Sarah Raich is a science fiction story. In the near future, large parts of the earth are devastated by climate change. Every person in the poor suburbs has a score. By doing science projects or discriminating against rebellious people, they can rise their score amd get the chance to live a better life in New Valley. Jenna is invited to live in New Valley and is hopeful that she can help her friends in the outskirts. But all is not as perfect as it seems. The book Elantris by Brandon Sanderson is a fantasy story. In Arelon there is a magical city called Elantris. It was the city of the gods until ten years ago when the city and its inhabitants were cursed. From time to time, people from the nearby town are cursed and sent to Elantris to vegetate. One morning, the king's son Raoden is transformed and sent to Elantris. When his bride-to-be arrives from another kingdom a few days later, she is told that he is dead. Raoden decides to help the people of Elantris live a worthy life, but to do so he must learn the secrets of Elantris. I really liked the book. Available at Amazon.

The book Quicksilver by Dean R. Koontz is a mystery thriller. Quinn Quicksilver was found on a motoway as a baby. He was raised in a convent school. At nineteen, he has a strange encounter with two agents. He can escape and is guided by his intuition to three other people and a dog. Their destiny is to destroy the evil in this word. The writing of the book is somewhat funny and I liked it. Available at Amazon.

In the book Start/Up - Setz das Netz in Flammen (german) by Paul Piper, the programmer Mark Cain realises, that being smart and nice is not enough to succeed. So he decides to fight without scruples to make his next business venture a success. He attacks the online advertising market of the big players. I liked the book. Available at Amazon.

In the book Die Tage in der Buchhandlung Morisaki (german) by Satoshi Yagisawa a woman is left by her boyfriend. He leaves because he wants to marry another woman in the same company where they work. The woman becomes depressed, quits her job and moves in with her uncle who owns a bookshop. She discovers her love for the books and builds up her self-esteem. The story is fantastic to read and I liked it a lot. Available at Amazon.

The audiobook Beweise is the 79th episode of the Midnight Tales series. As a young womam has her first day in a new job, her bosses were threatened by the janitor who wants to prove that they are extraterestrials. She is able to save them. The audiobook Die Stille by Markus Duschek is the 22nd episode of the Danger series. Maxine Porter has to find a famous sci-fi author who disappeared. The story was interesting and I liked the book. It is available at Amazon.

The audiobook Das Tonband by Markus Duschek is the 21st episode of the Danger series. Alex Foster's aunt dies. He is the only heir and gets a house. In the attic he finds an old tape recorder. When he plays the tape, he hears a scene from the future. The audio play is around 59 minutes and well made. It is available at Amazon.

The audiobook Doppelgänger by Marc-Oliver Bischoff is the 33rd episode of the MingNapping series. The rich woman Veronica Barron is blackmailed. When she thinks she is losing her mind, she hires a private detective to investigate. The story is about an hour long and well produced. It is available at Amazon.

The audiobook Planet Eden, Teil 11 (german) from the publisher Maritim is a sci-fi series produced by Markus Topf. The length is quite short, about 47 minutes. The plague threatens the space station. A team is sent to earth to a secret laboratory in Brazil. They desperately try to find a cure. I liked the story. Available at Amazon.

The audiobook Count Zero (Die Neuromancer-Trilogie 2) (german) by William Gibson is the second book of the Neuromancer trilogy. The first book was a milestone in the sci-fi genre. The story of the second book is about a would-be hacker who was trapped and luckily escaped from cyberspace with an unknown helper. It is connected to the illegal transfer of a researcher to another large company. The transfer went wrong and the transfer team was killed, except for their task force leader Turner. He must find out what went wrong and help the daughter of the researcher. I liked the book. Available at Amazon.

The audiobook Reaktor (german) by Timo Leibig is a science fiction thriller. Jonathan Beck has to check the newly built thorium reactor in Switzerland. There are strange radioactive contaminations in the area, strange news messages from a catastrophe that didn't happen. Jonathan and doctor Laura Girard, who lost her father due to contamination, try to find out what's going on. The story is good and I liked the book. Available at Amazon.
